BMW Remote Start App Control Activation Coding

Take care of your climate comfort by either warming up or cooling down the interior of your vehicle in advance with the use of OEM BMW Remote Start feature. Controlled via BMW key fob with a light-up display, BMW Display Key, or BMW Connected App/MyBMW App, this functionality greatly improves your driving experience and everyday usability.

If your BMW wasn't optioned from the factory with the Remote Engine Start feature, you now might be able to unlock it with a simple activation coding session – decode your VIN to verify compatibility.

This listing refers to the activation coding of the OEM BMW Remote Start option. No modules or key fobs need to be installed, only a coding session with our technician is required. Please note that not all BMW models support remote start functionality; if your car isn't compatible, check out our BMW Remote Start Retrofit.

IMPORTANT: software updates performed by repair workshops or at the official dealerships may erase the Remote Start coding. Reactivation of the feature is not covered by the initial purchase, but it may be performed for a lower re-coding fee if the future software update allows.

Warm Up or Cool Down the Interior of Your BMW

After unlocking the feature, Remote Start can be activated through the iDrive settings menu, allowing you to plan regular ventilation and engine starts. Defrosting removes ice and snow from windows automatically, and the engine shuts off automatically after fifteen minutes if unused.

OEM Remote Engine Start Functionality

This OEM feature allows you to check vehicle status or activate BMW remote start on your MyBMW App and is integrated with the BMW ConnectedDrive environment. No additional control modules or key fobs are required, as we simply unlock a functionality that is already embedded in your car, but hasn't been optioned when purchasing the car.

When using the app, a “Ventilate” signal can be sent to your car, turning on either your engine, ventilation, or parking heater (depending on the iDrive settings and external conditions). 

The BMW Remote Start App Control Activation Coding is performed during a remote cable coding session. It's a simple process that takes 30–45 minutes and is carried out by our expert technician; simply plug in the coding cable and let them take care of the rest.
