What’s up Bimmer fans! Every day it seems there is news happening in the world of BMW. Since bringing you daily stories would be a tad overwhelming, we’re taking the best ones from last month, and putting them all together here in one place for you!
Sound familiar? Yup! This was a video series over on our YouTube channel, but we wanted to try something a little different and make this a written segment for you.
Either way, let’s get into the new written version of Last Month in BMW, where we cover all the BMW news from last month, which in this case was July of 2025. Let’s dive in!
There is no getting around the fact that Rolls Royce makes expensive cars and they are usually used as status symbols (or high end rental cars). In the past, high end cars, and even high mid-priced cars like Corvettes had a purchase requirement of having a full head of grey hair. Now, times seem to be changing.
Apparently, the average age of the Rolls Royce Spectre buyer is only around 35. Even more revealing is that according to Rolls-Royce North America President Jon Colbeth, 40% of Spectre buyers are new to Rolls Royce. What’s the reason for all this?
We can probably chalk this one up to technology. The Spectre was the first Rolls Royce to go all electric. According to YouGov, the highest percentage of EV owners are 30–44 years old with 18–29 years old right behind it.
It’s also packed with screens, flashy lights, and other technology filled with buzz words… Exactly what younger people want! Let’s be real, while older people like comfort, they usually don’t like all this newfangled technology. Now, where are these younger people getting all of their money? THAT is a question I would like an answer to…

What determines the success of any mass produced product? Sales. Obviously this is no different in the world of cars, but the BMW Group has noticed some interesting numbers as the first half of the year has wrapped up.
For the TL;DR – their sales are down.
Globally, BMW sales are not exactly where the company wants them to be, but in the North American market, sales are up slightly. EV sales are taking the biggest hit. They are WAY down. Even the leader, Tesla, is seeing lower sales. More on all that in the next story though…
What seems to be happening a lot now during these “sales drops” are the sales of M cars going up. We just mentioned EVs and we know internal combustion engines will be going away eventually. With different regulations around the world always being added, no one knows when, so this could be a reason many people are buying them up now. We’ll see if that trend continues with EV M cars.
A couple other interesting stats is that passenger car sales grew while SUV (sorry… SAV) sales didn’t do as hot. Is this a new trend? Is the SUV craze that killed the minivan which killed the wagon finally ending? Time will tell on that one.
The BMW Z4 had some higher numbers compared to the same point last year, but the biggest rise in sales came from Mini! Their sales were up by just over 29% compared to the same point last year.
Have you purchased a BMW this year? Let us know in the comments!

Love it or not, EVs are not going anywhere. Gas prices, government regulations, and Greta Thunberg are making sure they are here to stay. However, they are not as strong as they once were. Even Tesla, which is leading in sales, is feeling it. Though they do remain on top.
The EV sales slumps are due to a few reasons: one, there are TONS of competitors these days. While EVs were out there in the past, if you wanted one, you generally got a Tesla. Now all the big brands known for internal combustion engine cars have successful EV models, and there are even companies like Rivian making a splash. The EV tax credit has also been eliminated, giving less of an incentive to buy one.
According to the BMW Blog, BMW is being hit hard though with sales down about 12% to almost 44% depending on the model. I guess we’ll see how BMW sales do with the Neue Klasse coming out next year in 2026.

Japan is known for getting special edition BMWs such as the Black and Final editions on certain models. The BMW M3 CS Touring can probably be considered a special edition BMW since it will have a production cap and while Japan will be getting them, they are being limited to just 30!
While it will be almost 40,000 USD more than the base model, at least they ARE getting it. Not only does BMW have to make a RHD variant for them, but only one third of the world drives on the left side of the road.
According to BMW Group, in Europe, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain have the highest sales. They then state the other highest non-European markets are the US, Brazil, China, and India. The ONLY country on that list that has RHD vehicles is India. The US, which is one of the strongest markets and loves wagons, will not be getting any. Have fun with your 30, Japan.
By the way, if you haven’t seen our video about why BMW killed the wagon in the US, go check it out!

If you’ve seen our video series before, you know we like our spy photos from time to time. Since the 3 Series is one of BMW’s highest selling models of all time, one of the most well selling cars in general of all time, and since sedan sales are starting to pass SUV/SAV sales, we thought it would be important to bring this to you. With that extensive intro out of the way…
It looks like none of these were the electric models, but actually a performance model, and a standard model based on the exhaust tips (or lack of for the standard one that is).
One thing is certain that this car looks huge! The more recent 3 Series models are not necessarily small cars, but this one looks rather bloated. With modern technology, tuning, and performance in general, size and weight doesn’t mean as much as it once did (at least in production cars/daily drivers). Once we know more, we’ll bring you more right here on BimmerTech – for now, check out the spy shots in the BMW Blog story linked below.

As mentioned before, EV cars are here, and getting more and more prevalent. While many manufacturers are making EV only models (and yes, BMW does too), BMW is doing something that surprisingly not many other brands are: offering both internal combustion and EV variants of the same model (please don’t bring up the Mustang… Great EV, but it’s not a Mustang).
The M cars are what many people are looking at and, well… It seems gas lovers are getting the short end of the power stick when it comes to fuel burning and EV M cars. According to the BMW blog, the EV version of the BMW M3 “will ultimately be significantly faster.” Ouch! Why is this?
Let’s face it… Performance-oriented EV cars are fast. Electric motors are very efficient and deliver near instant torque. You want to go? They go. Fuel burning engine setups, while WAY better than they used to be, simply have limitations that physics can’t ignore. That’s even with forced induction.
It’s rumored that BMW might add a mild-hybrid setup, which basically adds an electric system to help with that instant torque that’s missing with a mechanical system, as well as other advantages.
Even if it’s much faster, which would you get if you were to get the new BMW M3? Internal combustion or EV? Let us know!

Any car person has two big fears: their car getting damaged/totaled or their car getting stolen. Unfortunately the well known automotive journalist Chris Harris had this happen to him, but the outcome was unexpected.
Imagine one day walking out to find the car you love, which for Chris Harris was his 1986 E28 BMW M5, missing. Thankfully for Harris, he’s well known. He put out a message to his followers to keep an eye out for it and someone actually found it just a few hours later.
Unfortunately, the wheels were damaged as well as the ignition switch and other electronics inside. Despite it being challenging for things like the wheels, the damage can be fixed. According to CNBC, “U.K. vehicle theft has risen by 75% in the past decade to about 130,000 vehicles a year.” At least this specific crime had a more positive outcome.

CarPlay Ultra has been talked about A LOT recently. We at BimmerTech are even starting to get calls asking if we’re working on any retrofits to offer it. BMW finally decided to speak up about their plans to add it, well… To NOT add it.
What is CarPlay Ultra? Basically it’s CarPlay on steroids. It’s a complete integration of CarPlay in your vehicle, which at this point is ONLY Aston Martin. Brands like Hyundai, Kia, and Genesis are working on it as well.
While obvious things like navigation will be integrated into the vehicles screen, things like gauges will also be part of CarPlay Ultra. Siri will be able to control what seems like everything from climate to radio stations, and almost anything on the screens can be customized to your liking.
For Android users, Aston Martin still has its own in-house display and operating system, and it looks like it will still offer Android Auto. Of course all of those extra features and gimmicks will be CarPlay Ultra only.

Cars run hot! To fight that, they have a cooling system. High end computers run hot! To fight that, they have a cooling system. What if you have a computer processor that runs really hot? Why not strip your BMW M4 for parts to cool it? That’s exactly what Chinese YouTuber Geekerwan did!
For the low low price of about $16,000 (USD), the Threadripper 9995WX Pro from AMD is a completely affordable processor anyone can afford! While you’re at it, buy a spare M4 to pull parts from. Obviously, this was done because “why not,” but to help combat the high temperature from overclocking his CPU, this YouTuber used the water pump and radiator from his BMW M4.
While the CPU did not reach its peak performance (I mean… Do you REALLY expect that for $16,000…?), the BMW cooling system did its job! I guess you could say this build was pointless, but… Cool.

All good things must come to an end. While some purists on both sides were not thrilled with the partnership between BMW and Toyota to create the current Supra, we did get a pretty good car regardless. Well, things are about to change.
While we mentioned it in Episode 16 of Last Month In BMW, the A90 Supra Final Edition will be coming to Japan. For the 2027 model, the Supra will be homegrown.
The powerplant will be Toyota’s own 2.0-liter turbocharged hybrid four-cylinder engine, producing around 400 horsepower. While the current generation makes about 430 max horsepower (depending on the trim), one can assume these engines will be modded very quickly to make more. Higher-end versions will also probably come out as time goes on as well.
What do you think about this? Are you disappointed to see the split happy, or are you finally happy to see the Supra be a true JDM car once again? Heck… On the flip side of that, maybe you’re happy to see the German brand be done with the Supra, and focus on making its own great cars. Either way, let us know!
