MINI/BMW iDrive Software Update 2026

Have CarPlay but can’t update it to use full-screen mode because of an outdated software version? Or do you want to install a hardware upgrade which is compatible only with newer software? Before, in order to get something like that done, you would have had to take your vehicle to the dealership, where they would update the whole car and charge you a fortune.

But we offer doing this in the comfort of your home, giving you a value for money service. MINI/BMW iDrive update 2026 is an update that upgrades the software version (i-Level) of your iDrive system. It is needed when installing some new software or hardware which is only supposed to work with the latest software versions.

IMPORTANT: This is not the same as the BMW ConnectedDrive update you can download from BMW’s official website and transfer to your vehicle via a USB stick. The BMW ConnectedDrive update is a patch or partial fix that changes the existing software without updating it. BimmerTech, on the other hand, updates the full software of the iDrive system. Please verify that you do not already have the latest software installed in your vehicle before purchasing.

MINI/BMW iDrive software update 2026 is performed via a remote session and takes up to 1h. After you complete your order, we will send you a coding cable (if you add it in the top section). Once you receive it, you will be able to schedule a coding session for the time that suits you best. During the session, just plug in the cable and follow the instructions from our technician. The car must be connected to a battery charger with the current kept at 15A minimum for the duration of the session. Otherwise, your vehicle may shut down before the update is complete, potentially causing critical errors. To prepare for your coding session you will need a laptop running Microsoft Windows and a WiFi internet network that you can connect to in your car. A Mac computer running Windows should work too. You will get links to install the BimmerTech software necessary for your session.

The software update is compatible with F/G-Series BMWs. Please note that we don’t recommend doing a software update without a justifiable reason. If there are no issues and all the applications work properly, and you don’t intend to install new equipment which is compatible only with a newer software version,your iDrive system shouldn’t be updated. The update will not result in any changes to your iDrive interface.

During the BMW or MINI iDrive software update, the technician remotely uploads a new software version designed and developed by BMW, meaning no third-party or BimmerTech software is involved. Thus, BimmerTech doesn’t take responsibility for any changes to your vehicle's features or other issues after the software update.

Your iDrive software is updated through a remote cable session. It is a very simple process that takes around an hour. After you complete your order, we send you a coding cable (if you don't have one and add it in the top Option section). Once you receive it, you will be able to schedule a remote session for the time that suits you best. During the session, just plug in the cable, follow the instructions from our technician and your iDrive software will be updated. The car must be connected to a battery charger with the current kept at 15A minimum for the duration of the session.

To complete the session, you will require a Windows PC.
